Overview
This adventurous Northern Laos journey combines remote jungle trekking, river travel, ethnic villages, and active outdoor experiences. The program begins with the unforgettable Gibbon Experience, staying in treehouses deep in the forest and exploring the canopy by zipline. It then continues through Luang Namtha, Nam Kat, the Nam Ou River, and Nong Khiaw, with jungle camps, homestays, waterfalls, and scenic boat journeys along the way. The trip ends in Luang Prabang with e-mountain biking, kayaking, temple visits, and a rewarding trek and zipline adventure to Kuang Si Waterfalls.

Day 1 – Arrival in Northern Laos

Into The Gibbon Experience
▼Begin the unforgettable Gibbon Experience, combining trekking and ziplining through pristine rainforest landscapes. Journey deep into the forest canopy before arriving at your spectacular treehouse accommodation, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
Gibbons & Rainforest Exploration
▼Spend a full day exploring the forest with optional hikes and ziplines connecting remote treehouses hidden amongst the mountains. Early morning offers the best opportunity to hear the haunting calls of wild gibbons echoing through the jungle.
From the Forest to Luang Namtha
▼Trek back through the rainforest to the village before continuing overland through northern Laos to Luang Namtha. Arrive by early evening and enjoy time to relax in this laid-back town surrounded by mountains and rice fields.
Trekking in the Nam Ha Protected Area
▼Travel into the Nam Ha National Protected Area and begin trekking through beautiful rainforest landscapes alongside a knowledgeable local guide. Reach a remote jungle camp deep in the mountains, where a traditional meal is prepared using local ingredients and forest herbs.
Nam Ha NPA - Continue to Oudomxay
▼Continue trekking through dense forest and mountain scenery while learning about the region’s wildlife, plants, and traditional uses of the jungle. After the trek, continue south to the tranquil Nam Kat region for a comfortable evening surrounded by nature.
Nam Kat – 4WD & Trek to Ban Phavie
▼Journey by 4WD through scenic valleys, rice terraces, and remote villages before trekking to the Khmu village of Ban Phavie. Continue to nearby waterfalls for time to relax, swim, and enjoy a picnic lunch in a peaceful natural setting.
Oudomxay – Muang Khua – Nam Ou River Cruise to Ban Sobjaem
▼Transfer to the riverside town of Muang Khua and begin a beautiful cruise along the Nam Ou River. Pass remote villages and dramatic mountain scenery before arriving at a traditional homestay, where you will experience warm local hospitality and riverside village life.
Ban Sobjaem - Cruise down to Nong Khiaw, Trek to Ban Tad Mok on the way
▼Continue cruising downstream along the Nam Ou before trekking through forests and rice fields to the picturesque Tad Mok Waterfalls. After time to relax by the falls, continue to the scenic riverside town of Nong Khiaw.
Kayaking on the Nam Ou & Mekong
