This scenic Laos journey combines cultural discovery, soft adventure, and beautiful landscapes from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. The program begins in the capital, with its temples, monuments, local life, and the unusual Buddha Park along the Mekong. It then continues to Vang Vieng and Oudomxay, with Khmu village encounters, mountain train journeys, forest walks, and time to enjoy the peaceful nature setting of Nam Kat. The journey ends in Luang Prabang, with heritage sites, ethnic culture, a rewarding trek to Kuang Si Waterfalls, and a sunset cruise on the Mekong River.

Day by Day

Day 1

Arrival in Vientiane

Arrival in Vientiane and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to settle in and enjoy the first impressions of Laos’ relaxed capital.

Day 2

Temples, Monuments & Buddha Park

A full-day exploration of Vientiane introduces important temples, the Patuxai Monument, That Luang Stupa, and the moving COPE Exhibition Centre. In the afternoon, the journey continues to Buddha Park, with its unusual sculptures set beside the Mekong River.

Day 3

Vientiane to Vang Vieng

The journey leaves Vientiane behind and follows the expressway to Vang Vieng, surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains. After check-in, the afternoon is free to enjoy the scenery or relax at the hotel.

Day 4

Khmu Culture Unraveled

A visit to Ban Viengsamai offers a warm introduction to Khmu traditions, village life, local crafts, and animist beliefs. The day includes a gentle village walk, rice field scenery, a cave visit, and lunch with a local family.

Day 5

Mountain Train to Oudomxay

A scenic train journey travels north through mountain landscapes, bridges, tunnels, and rural villages. Upon arrival in Oudomxay, the transfer continues to a peaceful nature setting for the night.

Day 6

Oudomxay – Explore the biodiversity of the Nam Kat Forest

A guided forest walk in Nam Kat introduces the area’s rich plant life, wildlife habitats, orchids, and hidden natural beauty. The visit continues at the Nam Kat Biodiversity Museum, with its collection of insects, butterflies, reptiles, and conservation displays.

Day 7

Oudomxay – Free at leisure

This day is free to enjoy the peaceful surroundings at leisure. It offers a relaxed pause in the program, with time to rest or enjoy the natural setting of the resort.

Day 8

Train to Luang Prabang

The train journey continues south through the mountains to Luang Prabang, crossing valleys, tunnels, and the Mekong River along the way. On arrival, transfer to the hotel and freshen up for the stay in this UNESCO World Heritage town.

Day 9

Luang Prabang Heritage & Culture

A full-day city tour explores Luang Prabang’s royal history, traditional architecture, important temples, and ethnic culture. The day ends with a choice of sunset viewpoint or evening monk chants at one of the town’s temples.

Day 10

Trek to Kuang Si Waterfalls & Mekong Cruise

The day begins with a trek from Ban Longlao through forest and jungle to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls. After time to enjoy the falls and visit the Bear Rescue Centre, the journey returns to Luang Prabang by traditional boat on the Mekong River.
