Day by Day
Arrive in Chiang Rai

▼The journey continues to the Lao border, followed by embarkation on the elegant Anouvong Cruise in Huay Xai. The first day on the Mekong includes scenic sailing, an introduction to the ethnic diversity of Laos and a traditional Baci ceremony in a riverside village.
Cruise day2 on the Anouvong Cruise
▼The cruise reaches Pakbeng, with a visit to a sustainable elephant sanctuary set in a beautiful natural environment. Later, the journey continues to Khok Ek, where different ethnic groups share their traditions, daily life and evening performances.
Cruise to various villages
▼The day offers a deeper look into rural life, with visits to peaceful villages, rice fields and traditional family homes. In the evening, the ship moors near Ban Khok Phou, where a farewell dinner is served in a memorable riverside setting.
Cruise via Pak Ou Caves to Luang Prabang
▼The final cruise day includes a visit to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha images. After a relaxed brunch and final Mekong views, the cruise arrives in Luang Prabang.
Luang Prabang exploration
▼A half-day city tour introduces the cultural heart of Luang Prabang, including the Royal Palace Museum, Heuan Chan Heritage House and Wat Xiengthong. The visit to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre gives further insight into the rich ethnic diversity of Laos.
Kuang Si Waterfalls & Buffalo Dairy
▼The day begins with a visit to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls, where forest trails and turquoise pools create one of Laos’ most scenic natural sites. On the way back, the Laos Buffalo Dairy offers a warm and informative visit, including buffalo care, cheese tasting and homemade ice cream.
Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng by train
▼The journey continues by train through the mountains of northern Laos to Vang Vieng. After arrival, the rest of the day is free to enjoy the riverside setting and dramatic karst scenery.
Khmu Culture Unravelled
▼A local guide introduces the traditions, stories and daily life of his Khmu village near Vang Vieng. The day includes village walks, a visit to a traditional knife smith, rice field scenery and a home-cooked lunch with a local family.
Vientiane exploration
▼After travelling to Vientiane, the afternoon explores the capital’s main cultural and historical sights, including Wat Sisaket, Wat Prakeo, COPE, Patuxai and That Luang. In the evening, the exploration continues with a foodie tour by tuk tuk! Explore a local food market, traditional Sindat dinner and cocktails at the most atmospheric bar of Vientiane.
